Parenting in not always fun. In fact, the demands of feeding, sleeping, cleaning up after and interacting with little people can be overwhelming at times. I can’t even think about laundry without cringing.
Something changed this year. I made an effort to do stuff with my kids. Not be a facilitator, not be in charge of the situation but join in the fun. Above you can see a picture of a little garden we made in an afternoon. I also learned how to weave numerous bracelets on a Rainbow Loom. Do you know Anna Kendrick’s “Cup Song?” I can do the cup dance right along with her. I also learned the basics of a sewing machine and made an envelope pillowcase.
These projects helped me witness my kids at their best. We figured things out, we worked together, we are a team. These aren’t amazing accomplishments but they were FUN! And when I look back at 2013 I will remember these projects as the best parts of my year.
