Dear Kellyanne,
I’m sorry, I had a moment… I had a very strong immediate reaction to your words because, well, I take the empowerment of young women and boys very seriously and I don’t really appreciate indirect connotations that feminism is a dirty word. When our vaginas are more regulated than guns, feminist or not, we have a long way to go for women’s rights and human rights. I went and listened again to your words and I’m sorry. I hear you… and I just want to let you know you can sit with us.

You expressed feelings of “women having a problem with women in power.” and said, “You know, this whole sisterhood, this whole ‘let’s go march for women’s rights’ and, you know, just constantly talking about what women look like or what they wear or making fun of their choices or presuming that they’re not as powerful as then men around… this presumptive negativity about women in power, I think, is very unfortunate.”
I want to let you know that the sisterhood is real. We are women supporting women and we support you. You are an incredibly intelligent woman and no one can argue that you have accomplished greatness, but I hope that you will use your platform to lift women up and not pin us against each other. We need more women in power and I hope that you use your time in the White House to help us get there.
With love,
Afton
