What is Nmap?

Nmap (Network Mapper) is a tool used to discover hosts and services on a computer network by sending packets and analyzing the responses. It’s a crucial first step in the hacking process, allowing you to gather information about your target.

Installing Nmap

Nmap is available for multiple platforms, including Linux, Windows, and Mac OS. You can download it from the official website: nmap.org. If you’re using Kali Linux or Parrot OS, Nmap comes pre-installed.

Launching Nmap

  • Windows: Open Command Prompt and run the nmap command.
  • Linux/Mac: Open a terminal and run the nmap command.
  • Kali/Parrot OS: Navigate to the Information Gathering section and select Nmap.
