New on Ebola Outbreak
Since the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, everyone (worldwide) has been talking about the disease. Doctors, nurses, etc. are being flown in to Africa to try to help the poor country. With that said, the first United States citizen has been diagnosed with Ebola. Thomas Duncan is being treated in a Dallas, Texas hospital. People in the U.S. are in a state of extreme panic. Many Americans are fighting to stop flights to and from the West African countries, carrying the disease. The White House are resisting these calls because that is not an option. The government believes we need to help stop the disease, rather than running away from it.
A different option might be an airport entry screening for passengers arriving from Ebola-stricken African countries. President Obama says these screenings could be a possibility. It might include things like a fever check and/or simply asking who these individuals might have been around.
The first person known to have been diagnosed with Ebola outside of Africa has also been announced today. A nurse’s assistant from Spain was confirmed to have been diagnosed with Ebola after helping to treat 2 patients who were diagnosed in Africa. She was one of about 30 health professionals in Spain who was helping to treat Ebola patients. Many people in the U.S. continue to grow scared that the disease will enter America soon.
