Into the Depth of the Tigris, Ethiopia Crisis
A very popular term known as the “Tigris, Euthpian crisis” is making it to the headlines. Now the concern is what is it all about? Why did t start and who is to be blamed for it? We have all that and much more lined up next in the article for you.
The History behind the Tigris-Ethiopia Crisis
Ethiopia is claimed to be the oldest Independent country of Africa and it has undergone quite a several changes post the declaration of Mr.Abiy’s win as the Prime Minister. He appealed to bring unity, peace, and brotherhood to the people of Ethiopia. The Political scenario of Ethiopia has quite a several parties, amongst which are the Tigrayans who claim to be the 7% of the total population of Ethiopia. In the early 1970s, this party namely TPLF fought a war to free the locality from military control and thus won the land to become the government of Ethiopia. The coalition won by the TPLF did bring some freedom to the land but the Central Government denied losing any grip on Ethiopia. In 2019, Mr.Abiy dissolved the Coalition but again the Tigrayans refused to join the Prosperity Party set up by Mr.Abiy. Things heated up further when the Tigrayanas started fighting and brought up revolts all across Ethiopia and last September they decided to conduct a vote of their own. This had no support of the law and was purely illegal. They also started questioning Prime Minister Mr.ABiy and said that he holds a kind of a favor to Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki. Mr.Abiy went on to sign a peace treaty with Eritrea’s government which led him to win the Noble Peace Prize.
What is the Tigris, Ethiopia Crisis all about?
It was on the 4th of November 2020, when millions of people started fleeing their hometown at Tigray. There are in total 6million population and about 4million had already decided to get off their homes and find someplace that is safer for them. Now, the main reason for this flee was that Mr.Abiy had ordered an invasion as the TPLF had successfully captured the federal military bases. It is seen that ten thousand people had found refugee places in Sudan and most of them happen to be misplaced and unknown.

What is the Current Scenario like?
The Current scenario of Tigris and Ethiopia in no way is good. Millions of homes are being destroyed daily, millions of people are left as a refugee, they have no food, water, and place to stay. The forces of the TPLF part wanted an emergence election, which was impossible as the world is going through a deadly pandemic, also the Prime Minister had been for a few years now and the Central government didn’t want to lose the last hope of keeping Mr.Abiy as the Prime Minister of Ethiopia. Things boiled further when the central government cut ties with the TPLF and stopped all kinds of funding to run the party. In October, Tigrayans said that this would lead to war and declared war with the Central Government. The worst of all happened when the Tigrayans started capturing different military base camps to loot all the weapons and leave nothing with the forces. In such a situation, unable to handle the scenario, Mr.Abiy declared that the Tigrayans had crossed the red line the moment they attacked the Military and that he is open to the confrontation of the military in this aspect.
Impact of Tigris,Ethopia Crisis
No war has a positive impact and nor does this. The current condition of the region of Ethiopia is no less than a disaster. UNOCHA reported that as of 2nd September 2021, there were more than 5.2 million people left without any house and food and needed humanitarian help. These people were from Ethiopia and mainly from the Tigray region. They could reach only 25% of the total people in need and be out of resources. Things are becoming far more challenging as the area affected has constriction regarding electricity, fuel, and telecommunication. The Food inflation in the area has increased from 27% to 35% in the past month. The Health care of the region is falling miserable as the hospitals are broken and looted by the military and people are left no choice but to die. Things like water, sanitization, and medicine are at stake. More and more people and organizations are making it a point to hold out their helping hands to make sure Tigray and the Ethiopian people can at least get the basics of their life. Things are becoming much more difficult for NGOs and organizations to help as the COVID
19 virus is spread and it would be dangerous to get affected or affect the people who are dying of hunger, water and rest already.

When will this Stop?
No one can say the exact time when a War or a condition like this may stop. But we all have one minimal idea that one war has to go one day or the other. Until then we request the people of Tigray and Ethiopia to not lose hope and faith. If the hurricane is going it shall end. We would request all entities and organizations to come forward and donate to the people at risk. It can be cash, kind, or anything that will help the people and save them from dangers. The people of Ethiopia are facing a crisis of desert locusts, invasion, floods, drought, and socio-economic impacts of the COVID 19 virus. The Infrastructure is not at all suitable for help from far away but there has been allocated few organizations that are locating the funds and collecting them to reach the people who need it the most.
This is a very rare case where the country is fighting a war with itself, instigated by their own Prime Minister and Political Party TPLF. The result of all this is the killing of innocent people who did nothing wrong and were living a life of their own. Internet and Phone connections are restricted so that no one can be able to contact others. The Central Cabinet declared a 6onths of emergency at Tigray. There are gunshots been heard everywhere and no one is feeling an inch of safety in the land of Tigray. The nation is in full chaos and so is the military. They are being ordered by the Government and they are nothing but puppets of their hands and despite seeing the misery they cannot help the poor, suffering people. Thus, if I describe the situation of Tigray and Ethiopia in a sentence I would say that Tigris, Ethiopia Crisis made it the land of Hell!
