Steve Pink directed the American comedy film, “Accepted” that was written by Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and Mark Perez. This film tells us about a group of high school graduates who decided to build a fake university due to the rejection they got from universities they applied to. It was released on 18 August 2006 and was shot in Los Angles and Orange in California at Chapman University.

Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long) is a known to be friendly and outgoing at his high school, William McKineley High School who likes to create fake IDs. He is used to creating fake IDs which the led him to create a fake university with the ability he has. He decided to create the fake university, South Harmon Institute of Technology (S.H.I.T), because he received rejection letters from all the universities he applied to and his strict father (Mark Derwin) always expected him to go to college. He made this fake university with his fellow friends, Sherman Schrader III (Jonah Hill) who got accepted to Harmon College, Rory Thayer who got rejected by Yale University due to legacy preferences, Darryl “Hands” Holloway (Columbus Short) who lost his athletic scholarship due to an injury and Glen (Adam Herschman) who failed his SAT exam. They created a fake website to make it look more realistic.

It all did not turn out to be what they have excepted. They wanted to make this as secretive as possible, but it turn out that a lot of high school graduates who got rejected by universities found out the website and instantly got accepted. Bartleby who feels sorry for them wants them to believe that the school is real so that they can feel accepted. Without having any curriculum and proper facilities, he told the students to write down what they want to learn on a giant wall. Bartleby then turned this university into a party school due to that. When the dean of Hormone College found out about this and reported them which made them had to go some procedure before turning into a real school.

This movie can be very inspirational to many senior high school students who are still wondering on what to do for the future. This movie teaches us to do what we really want to do and by doing so, we can succeed as long as you believe in your dream and work hard. Even so, there are some scenes where it should not be imitated. In this movie the students use a lot of swear words, do some adult jokes and there is even a scene where students exchange drugs.

Overall, I think this move is can cheer up some senior high school students who got rejected or got into college but got into a faculty which is not what they want. It also teaches senior high school students on what it is like to be a college student.
