Who am I as a teacher? It’s a funny question to ask myself because until a little bit ago I didn’t completely see myself as a teacher yet. I see myself as a student striving to become a teacher. Being a student I hope to become a good teacher that can connect my students with the material in very different and creative ways that makes them enjoy learning and school as much as I did.

I think why I had a hard time seeing myself as a teacher until a few short days ago is because I don’t have the title, my own classroom, my own students, etc. But I realized to be a teacher doesn’t mean to have all those things. It means to spread my knowledge with others and try to help those who may struggle to find theirs.

I realized that who I am as a person and as a student is very similar on who I am now beginning to think of myself as teacher. In my normal everyday life I think of myself as a person who looks out for everyone and wants to see my friends and family exceed in all aspects of their life. I work hard to get what I want and to be able to achieve some unthinkable things. I push people that are around me so they can do their absolute best and encourage them even when they are feeling down on their abilities. Those aspects of my quote on quote everyday life transfer to my teaching. I encourage all students and people alike to challenge themselves every day to try something new or something hard and ensure they are doing so with a positive attitude.

I want to be able to transfer all these qualities that I see in myself to my teaching and to become a teacher, like I said, that can think of creative and innovative ways to inform and illustrate specific topics to my students. I want to be able to create an environment that is positive and fun and filled with laughter and a strong community.

I want to build a classroom similar to how my social studies teacher in high school did. Every day was something new and something interesting. People never sat still and that’s what made the class so interesting and exciting. I never learned so much in one class then when I was in that class. So I was lucky that I had a solid social studies foundation and I hope to create solid foundation in all subjects for my students so they can enjoy school as much as I did.

But in order to create a solid classroom, I use what I learned in past experiences in order to do so. So Ill give you some more information of who I am. My name is Alyssa. I am a junior studying Elementary Education and Communication studies. I like to live life with good friends, sarcasm, laughter, and lots of ice cream. I grew up in Wauwatosa, WI and loved every second of it though I don’t want to live their my whole life because I want to experience life elsewhere. I learned to take risks and to always try again until I got something to my standards and all of this is going to make me the teacher I want to be. That’s just a little about me and who I want to be when I grow up!
