Sorry, but when getting advice in relation to JavaScript, steer clear of amateurs. This is exactly what a conversation with an amateur sounds like. jQuery would have been perfectly adequate for this, and any seasoned JavaScript developer would have ended the conversation there. If so desired, Angular, React, and/or another framework could be also used, but it’s all up to personal preference.
I mean, look, I understand that this is an intentional exaggeration. But come on.
