The Turtle and the Hare

a poem

A funny cartoon cast
Was the turtle and the hare.
They didn’t think much alike,
They were a mixed pair.

These two comedians
Challenged one another to a race.
The turtle starts out slow,
The hare hops a fast pace.

The hare looks behind him,
The turtle is nowhere to be seen.
The hare decides to rest,
Hoping to wake — good and mean.

The turtle walked slow and steady
Trying not to weep.
He turned to his right
And saw the hare fast asleep.

He looked ahead —
There was the finish line!
Soon he would be across it
With the hare far behind!
