I agree, maybe I emphasized the async/await thing a bit too much.

To summarized, I’d say typescript allowed us to :

  • type our code : this is huge. A lot of people already know that, though
  • use es7 features “out of the box”, no tedious babel-config required.

I though the benefits of typing one’s code have been discussed quite a lot already. Furthermore, typescript is growing popular among angular2 devs, but I didn’t read much about its application on the backend-side. Hence the emphasis on the callback-style issues, and how Ts brings new tools to solve this.

But know that you mention it, I agree I mixed up two different things in one post :)
