Lifetime Experiences at Amal Academy
One my friend said that Amal academy offers a fellowship program. I was not familiar to Amal academy, I asked him what Amal academy pay us? He replied no no its only a platform where we can polish ourselves. Its about soft skills as communication, teamwork, public speaking, time management. Amal academy also teaches us how to make resume and cover letter, how to gave interview and lot of other things. By the way he convinced me to apply in Amal academy. So I filled up the form. Now I can say that at that time I took right decision and apply in Amal fellowship.
“You only change when you decide to come out of your comfort zone”
I define myself as an ambivert. I always feel shy and lose energy when I am among new peoples. So the first day I joined Amal, at the start of the session I was like “This is not my place". But after 15 minutes in the session, there was a big smile on my face that I have take a right decision. There were peoples but no one judge others. All are focused on their growth.
#steps to better me
In the very first week, I came to know something that is a core part of me but I never focused to find them. Yes, my values. The things I live by the things I cannot compromise on my behalf.
#My values
Then our first learning group was made. Where we were advised to talk about our goals in life and the things that disturb us. It was the first time that I shared something about my goals. So, at that time I shared some of my experiences and how they disturbs me.
In that week I learned about why I am living for. What is the purpose of my life? Deep inside everyone knows, it just requires time to hear yourself.
In these 2 weeks, we learned about teamwork. The very first activity Marshmallow activity was so fun even though we do not know each other much. My team members Tehreem, Sanea, Awais, Abdullah, and Noman all were so amazing. At that time I realized that I can work well even in groups. It’s all about valuing each other and communicating well. That time I realized the things were always there I was just not aware of them. So I met myself just the way this sky become clear in the morning.
#Things in my mind cleared like the scene on the left side
So in the first 2 weeks, I learned about:
- My values(challenges, accountability, originality)
- Teamwork
- Valuing everyone opinion
- The purpose of my life(Work for my people in rural areas)
- My passion
- How to develop a balance of sharing your opinions.
- Trusting my team
- First, identify the problem then work backward to solve it(design thinking)
Knowing a better self:
In this journey I found out the powers that are already part of me but never paid heed to them:
- I am good at time management.
- I am good at empathizing.
- I can also work well in teams.
- I learned that once I commit to something I can go the extra mile to get it done.
- I am a confident and lifelong learner.
My experience:
At this point I can sum up my experience as full of learning new things for example, from Sir Adnan I learned” how to share but not overshare that in turn, they will harm you”, meeting with some exceptional fellows, learning from everyone uniqueness e.g. how to be confident like Harris and Hamza, elaborate concisely like Tehreem and Umair, be persistent like Usama Tariq, Usman and work hard like Muhammad Asif, etc. I experienced a stronger better version of myself. I always thought that I can never work in teams but now I am the most excited person to work in a team, to collaborate, and take help from each other to get things done well.
#Life is beautiful and colorful its all about how you let go of shadows.
Team work experience
During this time the most important thing that helps me a lot to learn new things is a Mega project. Mega projects is an important part of fellowship. We selected Digital education for underprivileged children of UMEED School Jaranwala road as our mega project.
The experience is totally exceptional. In the Mega project I face a lot of challenges, such as time management, conveyance problem, electricity at school. The main challenge was that I had no information about computers before the Mega project, but I took it as a challenge to start taking lectures from YouTube of computers. I learned a lot of new things about computers in this mega project. Because we had set our goal and aimed to achieve it. I face all these challenges and got our goal.
Without Amal
If I don’t join the Amal family I am sure that I will not be able to grow professionally. Without Amal Fellowship I was unable to learn communication skills, interview skills, teamwork and a lot of other skills.
In the end, I want to thank these amazing people for being an amazing part of the Amal chapter in my life. These people and Amal have just made me stronger enough to walk through the next phase in my career with that big smile that I was always shy to show off.
