Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha, surround screen and 108 MP camera
Xiaomi has presented in China the Mi Mix Alpha, a spectacular design mobile defined by an enveloping screen that practically covers the entire terminal.
My Mix Alpha has been developed as part of the manufacturer’s effort to innovate in the new generation of foldable smartphones and is already being manufactured “on a small scale” for launch in December and with a price that is out of the usual containment of the manufacturer, and that those interested should pay a price of 19,999 yuan (about $ 2,800 to change).
The enveloping screen that (almost) envelops your body is a natural extension of the flexible screens and allows you to offer an incredible chassis-screen ratio that Xiaomi places at 180.6%. A strip that houses the camera system, with the Samsung sensor of 108 megapixels as a star, is the only piece that is saved from covering this screen. The design allows both sides of the terminal to be used for different tasks, including selfies that will take the staff very handsome since they can use the full capacity of the Samsung sensor at a stratospheric 12,032 x 9,024 pixels.
The terminal chassis is made of aerodynamic grade titanium, apparently lighter than stainless steel, and given the almost complete screen of the terminal, the Mi Mix Alpha has no physical buttons except the power button on the top. Its other components are also hidden under the screen, including the fingerprint reader and acoustic technology that replaces the typical headset and speaker, whose volume is managed at the pressure-sensitive edges. Like its predecessor, the most ‘normal’ in Mi Mix design, Alpha also uses ultrasound for proximity detection.
The sides of the phone will also be used to display reminders and notifications. The back will be inactive when you are using the phone as usual (that is, using the front display), but it will turn on when you flip the phone. There you will have a screen with shortcuts to the most used applications and other functions.
Its internal hardware base is the responsibility of Qualcomm’s most advanced chipset, the Snapdragon 855 Plus, accompanied by 12 Gbytes of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. It incorporates 5G radio bands for the three main operators in China and includes a 4,050 mAh battery with a fast-charging capacity of 40 watts.
While the Mi Mix Alpha may seem like a concept or a prototype at most, Xiaomi says it is already “producing on a small scale” for launch in December, although it is not clear that in its beginnings it leaves China. Like the Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X, although with different designs, the new Xiaomi is not a terminal for all audiences by features and price. Yes, it looks very good and is a variant of design in the possibilities of use offered by the new technologies of flexible screens.
Other innovative Xiaomi terminals are expected, such as the device with a folding screen in three parts, to move from smartphone to tablet and vice versa in a quite natural way. We are going to have fun with the new designs, although the mobile price in Bangladesh … very expensive. We will have to wait for new generations.
