Man that's how to get put on the spot!

But hey, I'll play along, because Lilith has some good points.

But to start, I'll quote one of my favorite TV personalities - Rachael Maddow. On a show she did recently with Joy Reid a while back in which they discussed this very issue.

She said something to the effect that if you're going to defend democracy, you MUST use the correct and legal democratic means to do so, or you have (as Lilith said) descended into the same anti-democratic mess your enemies wanted to drag you into!

Got that?

Good.

Fortunately, our system has the tools to fix these things. Assuming, of course, that Trump doesn't win. If he does, we're screwed anyway.

But assuming Biden wins and he manages to stop and defend the system between the election and January 6th of 2025 against the chaos guaranteed to happen in the States, AND that the Democrats manage to win back full control of the Congress, we CAN fix this.

But to do that, the Dems have to do something that a bunch may not want to do. Before you start, KILL THE FILIBUSTER. You can always reinstate it later with the traditional rules if you think it's needed. If you don't, none of this works.

First is to curtail the SCOTUS. That takes a couple of things.

First, since Congress has the constitutional ability to do these things, let's start there.

1. Expand the Court to 15. (I know some say 12, but hang in there)

2. Reorganize how the Court WORKS. Force it to hear cases via three judge panels, then make those panels (like the circuit courts) filled BY LOT. Completely by random. That way, nobody can predict which judges will sit in on their case, so the reasons for bribing justices to vote in your favor is less likely to do any good - certainly not the kind of crap they've pulled with Alito or Thomas. The likelihood of any of those folks getting on one of YOUR cases is much less, and who wants to buy something they'll likely not get?

3. Before doing the above, stop the court's ability to rule on the Constitutionality of cases. Since the Court gave ITSELF that power in the early 19th century, and the Congress can legislate what kinds of cases the Court can take in the first place, stop that in its tracks until they can fix it. Then fix it and keep the Court from pulling this crap in the first place. As part of that, they can legislate that all the recent Court rulings that trashed our system were illegal and not correct, and since the Court won't have the power any more to make THAT unconstitutional, that'll stand.

4. This may be a crap shoot, but I think they may be able to legislate that when the court sets a precedent, that precedent becomes as law which the Court may not overturn (or at least make the entire Court be the overturning authority). Make it hard to do.

5. Work to get a Constitutional amendment to limit SCOTUS terms to 12 years. While you do that, figure out some way to prevent prospective nominees for the court from lying to Congress like every single Conservative justice now sitting did to get there in order to overturn Roe. And penalties for taking bribes.

Now none of this will fix the election mess. But if we work together to convince the American people that even if you don't like Biden, letting the Republicans win is worse, we CAN win. Our choice is, frankly, limited to two.

The Democrats, who support at the very least, democracy. You may not agree with everything they want, but dammit if you don't help them WIN, you'll have NO chance with the GOP to argue with them at all.

Because the GOP is, according to their Project 2025, going to destroy the constitution.

Your choice. Democracy and a President you may not like or agree with, but whom you can argue and disagree with later? Or a President who becomes America's first Theocratic Dictator with whom a disagreement by you puts you into one of his threatened prison camps?

Stop this crap about Biden and dementia. Hell, Trump has it in spades. Who cares? It's the PARTIES you should care about, and this election is a stark reminder of the consequences of having a two party system. either man could drop dead tomorrow, or the day after inauguration. But the VP takes over, and the Party moves on.

Let's make sure it's the RIGHT Party.

Then, we can argue over how to keep this crap from happening again.

Oh, and I'll just mention here that in the future, we need to amend the constitution again. Because there's NO ENFORCEMENT mechanism to prevent a Trump from violating anything in there he wants! After all, he violated both Emolument Clauses, and it took a PRIVATE court case to even try - which he delayed until he left office, when it then became moot.

Ask me about that, and I'll be glad to write another article about my thoughts there.

Thanks for the opportunity, Lilith! I hope I didn't disappoint!
