Facebook has 1.3 billion more monthly users than Instagram, and it has more than 1.6 billion monthly users than Twitter. Instagram is mostly used for sharing photos to friends and family members, and Twitter is mainly for users, who want to tweet about whatever that crosses their mind, or any topic that interests them. With Facebook, users can not only post comments and photos, but they can also look through their local news feeds, create live videos, make an event plan, send messages to friends, ask for recommendations, and buy or sell items. Facebook also tends to have a wider audience than most social media sites.

In 2004, Facebook was launched by Mark Zuckerberg, when he was a student at Harvard University. The site was originally created for Harvard students and faculty members. Eventually, other universities and Ivy League schools could use Facebook. In 2006, Facebook was finally released to anyone, who was at least 13 years old and up.

About 82% of young adults, who are online use Facebook, while 55% of them use Instagram and 32% of them use Twitter, according to the Pew Research Center. Generally, teenagers are on Facebook more often than their older peers.

Facebook has changed a lot, during the past 14 years. It started out as a social media site, mainly used by college students, who wanted to make friends online, as well as post photos to friends and family members. Now, more than a quarter of the population of the world uses Facebook. Even businesses and nonprofit organizations use Facebook in order to further their cause and help their clients and customers.

In 2006, Facebook introduced its news feed page. Facebook users could look through news-related topics that interested them or daily posts shared by friends. As soon as you would log in, you would see all the latest news feeds that were posted by your friends or by daily newspapers and broadcast television networks that you liked and followed on Facebook. Broadcast television networks, such as CBS, NBC News, and ABC News received a lot of attention on Facebook because of the news that they covered. Whether it was a breaking news story or highlights from your favorite sports team, users wanted to get as much information and insight on that specific event.

Facebook Chat was released in 2008. Users could finally message their friends or family members. If you had to mention something personal to your friend, or if you wanted to meet up with someone at a restaurant, you could message them on Facebook Chat. This created an alternative for people, who didn’t own a cell phone.

In 2015, Facebook Live was released. It allowed users to create and watch live videos on Facebook. Users could share their live videos with friends and family, as well as people from different parts of the world.

Facebook has accumulated a mass audience from many different parts of the world. It has made a huge impact in the digital age. Over the years, Facebook created many different innovations that have helped make the site grow and expand.
