Why I Support Jeb Bush For President

And you should too

Count him out all you want. But I believe Governor Jeb Bush to be the most qualified Republican candidate for President. And I’ll tell you why.

To be honest with you, I can’t even vote. I’m 15 years old. But for me, that only increases Jeb Bush’s appeal. His ever-present optimistic outlook on the future is something rarely found on either side of the aisle. A little bit of optimism could do alot of good in today’s political climate.

Admittedly, Jeb’s debate performances have not been stellar. But at times we need to look at what candidates are saying rather than how they say it. He may not be a gifted orator (though his town hall performances are far superior, and have managed to win over many voters across Iowa and New Hampshire), but Jeb Bush is incredibly knowledgable about this country’s state of affairs, both at home and around the world. A very clear point of distinction for me was at the most recent debate in December, hosted by CNN and Salem Radio. When Hugh Hewitt asked Donald Trump what his thoughts were on the nuclear triad, Trump punted. He clearly had no idea what the nuclear triad even was. (Side note–the triad is the ability of the United States to conduct nuclear attacks using planes, missile launches, and nuclear submarines). You may not know what the nuclear triad is, and that’s fine. But you’re not running for the most important position in international politics, and Donald Trump is. On the other hand, Jeb Bush has clearly distinguished himself with an extensive knowledge of foreign policy–which should be required to become president. In addition, he has presented serious and substantive ideas which will surely begin to undo the many mistakes made by the Obama administration on the foreign policy front. His ideas include:

  • Creating a no-fly zone in Syria to prevent the Assad regime from killing its own citizens. Additionally, creating safe zones for refugees within their own country.
  • Establishing a broad international coalition to finally defeat ISIS. He pledges to better enable United States air and (limited) ground forces to conduct their mission in conjunction with Iraqi forces (i.e. the Peshmerga)
  • Working towards a stronger and smarter military, with improved technology capabilities and better access to troubled regions of the world.

More importantly, Jeb Bush has the adequate knowledge to carry out these common-sense solutions to the world’s problems. His succesful executive experience in Florida must be referenced as well. He had many achievements as governor. Florida led the country in job growth, had a high economic growth rate, a lower tax burden, and a better quality of life for its families. The policies enacted by Governor Bush allowed this to be achieved. He is most certainly the most qualified Governor running for president. Jeb Bush has done far more than simply blowing hot air on the Senate floor. He has acted. For instance, his crisis response capabilites were tested as governor, when four hurricanes hit in a very short period of time. The state responded quickly and efficiently. The U.S. Senators currently running for president have no such experience.

Additionally, Jeb Bush has, as he says, a “servant’s heart”. His primary goal is to serve the people, and that is certainly not the case for many other candidates. He has a relatable and likable personality, and the appropriate temperament to be president. Donald Trump can blabber and insult people all he wants, but he isn’t serious about seeking the highest office in the land. Preying on peoples’ fears is not an admirable strategy. On the other hand, Jeb Bush’s outlook on America is that we already are great, and we just need to fix some things in order to fully realize that.

We need more people like Jeb Bush in our government. We can start by having the man himself as our president.
