Thank you Marc for your response! I think what is important here is the purpose of collaboration. If the participants meet with peers to exchange ideas, become collaborators, and at the end if they can produce something together, then that is the real community. Exchange of ideas and encouraging among each other itself can be a purpose. (Making something new could be quite isolated work.) I think the key is collaboration and community, as also mentioned in the piece you shared with us. :)
