Delirious Wisdom

“Write in the dead of night.

You’ve spent an inordinate amount staring at the ceilings

and the thick comforter fails to make you feel rested.

Your mind whizzes and purrs and churns simultaneously.

Stop thinking and just let words flow through your fingertips.

Let your unspoken thoughts and choked-up confessions unravel on a piece of paper

instead of your much, much darker brain.

Write even if they think you’re a conceited nobody

spitting unintelligible nonsense.

Write because it liberates you.

I chided myself to sleep.
