The Helix Bridge, Singapore — 280m

This is a pedestrian only bridge, but that does not detract from it growing popularity. It is located in Singapore and links the Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area. Half of it opened on April 24, 2010 at 9pm and the entire bridge opened on July 18, 2010. It is a walkway around Marina Bay that is 280 metres in total length and boasts the title of being the world’s first curved bridge thanks to its double helix design.

The Hangzhou Bay Bridge, China — 35,673m

This bridge is located in China and it is famous for being a long trans oceanic bridge when it opened in June 14, 2007. It spans 22 miles and is a cable stayed bridge. It was created to shorten the travel time between China’s Ningbo and Shanghai. Before the bridge was built the travel distance between these two areas was 249 miles. This was reduced to 50 miles.
