Dude, sorry to hear about your troubles. I’ve been there. It’s not pretty, but there are upsides. I had a stage one growth in my colon in 2007, which turned out to be no big deal although I did lose 14" of southbound pipe. In 2012 I had a stage four tumor in my sinus cavity that had metastasized to surrounding bone and onto my right eyeball. I had a gruesome 11 hour surgery followed by radiation and Erbitux infusions. It will be 5 years in November. I’m still walking around and making a nuisance of myself. Miraculously, I still have both eyes, although they point in slightly different directions, and I don’t look like Quasimodo, although I’m a lot closer than I used to be. All the best to you and your family. The part that sucks most is that you soon realize this shit is harder on them than it is on you. You have to be the strong one and — this is important — you have to let them do things for you because that is the only thing that will make them feel better. That’s the best advice I have as someone who’s been through this. It seems to me from your post that you have the grace, the intelligence, and the good humor to make the best of a shit situation. I’ll be pulling for you.
