Gitcoin Passport is a unique identity verification application from Gitcoin that allows users to confirm their identity without disclosing personal information. This service analyzes wallet transactions and data from social networks, issuing points in return. The main goal of this application is to combat sybils.

Having points in Gitcoin Passport can be an important criterion for accessing various activities, including Galxe, as well as a possible key to long-awaited airdrops such as zkSync, Scroll, LayerZero, and any other projects (including testnets) where there are a very large number of users (over 1,000,000+).

Thanks to Gitcoin Passport, many projects can identify sybils and deprive them of drops, reducing the number of regular users and distributing significant drops to unique users.

Especially during the frenzy of the bull run in 2024, when dozens of projects will be giving out drops practically every day, most users may want to get involved with Gitcoin Passport!

In this article, we will explore how to accumulate maximum points (ideally at least 20+) and make your wallet minimally resemble a sybil.

Guide to Farming Points in Gitcoin Passport

  1. To begin, let’s go to the website and, as usual, connect your MetaMask wallet:

2. For convenience, immediately switch your wallet to the Ethereum Mainnet, Polygon Mainnet, Phantom Mainnet, Optimism, Linea, or Avalanche network in the top right corner (Gitcoin Passport supports these networks).

You’ll also need to sign a transaction if you’re new to Gitcoin Passport (if you’ve used Gitcoin Passport before, click “Go to Dashboard”):

3. Now, let’s start farming points. Connect your social networks:

  • Twitter — receive 1.02 points if the account was created more than 6 months ago; 1.23 points for an account over a year old; 1.43 points for an account over 2 years old (total: 3.68 points)
  • Discord — 0.71 points for simple authentication
  • Google Email — 1.03 points for authentication
  • LinkedIn (you may need a proxy or VPN) — 1.04 points for authentication
  • Total: Already have 6.46 points.

(If you have your own farm, it’s better to purchase all social accounts from DarkStore and familiarize yourself with the article).

4. Verify Trusta Labs — click “Verify” and sign the agreement:

Receive +2.02 points.

Total: 8.48 points.

5. Points for Github and Guild.

To receive points for Guild:

  • Go to the website and connect the same wallet.
  • Join at least 5 guilds (which may distribute airdrops in the future) and acquire at least 15 roles — 0.71 points
  • Join the Gitcoin Passport guild and acquire at least 1 role — 0.71 points
  • If you own 1 guild or are a guild admin — you can receive 0.71 points

To become a guild owner, click “Create guild” and follow the instructions:

Earn points by finding the corresponding tab:

To earn points for Github:

  • Authorize through Github
  • If your account has been created for more than 90 days — 1.02 points
  • If the account is over 180 days old — 1.23 points
  • If the account is over a year old — 1.43 points
  • If you have contributed to projects on Github for more than 30 days: 1.21 points
  • If you have contributed to projects on Github for more than 60 days: 1.21 points
  • If you have contributed to projects on Github for more than 120 days: 1.21 points

Thus, the total number of points already amounts to: 17.92 points — which is quite good (or 14.29 points — if you have not been active in Github projects).

6. NFT Holder Stamp

To get the Ethereum Stamp, you’ll need to hold any NFT on the Ethereum Mainnet or purchase a cheap one on OpenSea.

Confirm ownership of the NFT and receive 0.71 points.

In total: 18.63 points.

7. Zksync Stamp:

If you have completed at least 1+ transaction:

Total: 19.47 points

8. CIVIC Stamp

Go to the website and complete 3 verifications:

  • 1 verification — solve a captcha
  • 2 other verifications — face photo verification

The total fee for all 3 verifications will not exceed $1 on the Polygon network, and the verification itself will be valid for 3–5 months.

For all 3 verifications — receive 6.07 points.

Total: 25.53 points!

9. ENS Stamp

To get the stamp and points, you’ll need to purchase or own a domain on the Ethereum network.

You can purchase a domain here.

For the domain, receive 2.22 points — totaling: 27.75 points!

10. Snapshot Stamp

To earn points:

  • You need to visit the website and connect your wallet.
  • Create your vote following the instructions on the website. At least 1 account must participate in the vote — receive 2.84 points:
  • Participate in at least 2 votes on Snapshot — 1.43 points

Total: 32.02 points

11. Ethereum Stamp

Points are awarded for your activity on the Ethereum network, as well as for the amount of ETH you hold in this network. The more transactions and the more ETH you hold, the greater role you are eligible for:

  • ETH Enthusiast — 2.65 points
  • ETH Pioneer — 2.65 points
  • ETH Advocate — 2.65 points
  • ETH Maxi (assuming holding more than 32 ETH+) — 2.65 points

You can learn more about the ETH stamp in the documentation.

Total: 42.08 points

12. CoinBase Stamp

If you have an account on CoinBase, also claim points for it.

If you want to register on the exchange, you’ll need to rent a number (if you’re from Russia) and use a VPN — receive 1.37 points.

Total: 43.45 points

13. BrightID Stamp

To earn points, you’ll need to register on the website (download the mobile app) and participate in a call with a group of people of your choice — 0.71 points.

Total: 44.16 points

14. Proof-Of-Humanity Stamp

To earn points, you’ll need to authenticate via wallet on the website and undergo FaceId verification — 1.23 points.

Total: 45.39 points

15. Idena Stamp

One of the challenging verifications, where you’ll need to pass captchas of varying difficulty and elevate your level to Human on the website by solving captchas.

  • NewBie — 0.53 points
  • Verified — 1.37 points
  • Human — 1.63 points

Also, holders of iDna can receive points:

  • More than 1,000 iDna — 0.92 points
  • More than 10,000 iDna — 1.18 points
  • More than 100,000 iDna — 1.43 points

If your verification in Idena was done quite some time ago:

  • More than 5 epochs — 1.5 points
  • More than 10 epochs — 1.5 points

Total, it adds up to: 55.46 points

16. Lens Stamp

To wrap it up, you can undergo verification in Lens, where you’ll need to mint a handle for your wallet on the Polygon network — for 8 MATIC, or pay with a card ($10) — 2.47 points.

Total: 57.93 points

Minting a handle in Lens — you can try to qualify for a drop from the project itself, which may distribute tokens in 2024!

Conclusion

Gitcoin Passport allows users to collect verifiable credentials, or stamps, that confirm their identity and reliability without disclosing personal information.

For projects — Gitcoin Passport enables filtering out unnecessary sybils and distributing larger drops to a smaller audience!

However, it’s worth considering — having a very large number of points in the Galxe Passport can also be interpreted as a sybil wallet!

A case in point was with the Magic Square project, which denied drops to all users who had more than 50 points in Gitcoin Passport!

For a more detailed understanding of the criteria by which projects can filter out users — you can read the article.

Therefore, we recommend maintaining a Gitcoin Score balance from 20 to 40 points to qualify for drops from all projects.

Also, keep an eye on Gitcoin’s Twitter to not miss out on new opportunities for point farming!

Use the AirdropHunter platform, which will allow you to not worry about Gitcoin Passport and qualify for drops from high-potential projects this year!
