Get Through Airport Security in a Flash

For some people that fly out of Connecticut, airline travel is treat and something to be experienced sparingly. They book a flight maybe once a year at most, they only travel for vacation or to see friends, and they love every minute of it. Frequent fliers that need to travel for work or other reasons most likely don’t have as rosy of a view about air travel. Packing beforehand and ensuring that you have everything before you go is time consuming. Picking flights and travel times that work with your schedule can be tedious at best and maddening at worst. Then when you finally have everything solidified, you have to go through airport security.

Airports may have added more TSA agents to help the process go faster, but it never seems to be enough. If you’ve missed a flight because of airport security, you don’t need to be told how stressful the whole process can be. You can’t avoid security, but there are some things you can do to ensure that you get through as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Do your own security check before you pick a line

It may seem absurd, but sometimes picking the shortest line can result in the longest wait. Before you pick a line, take a quick look at people that are in it. Sometimes noticing something small can save you a lot of time. A passenger with a baby carriage is going to take a long time to get through the line. Someone that’s casually going their purse and taking out water bottles could cause a problem.

Dress for success

Maybe you have to get to a business meeting as soon as you land. You could have a fancy wedding to attend moments after you land. Regardless of the dress code you have to adhere to once you get to your destination, you should be dressed for comfort and security ease when you fly. Avoid wearing complicated jewelry or belts when you fly, you’re just going to have to take them off when you go through security. Also if possible, wear socks and slip on shoes. You’re going to have to take off your shoes when you go through security, and you don’t want to walk barefoot or fumble with complicated laces and snaps.

Check the TSA website

You heard that you can bring nail clippers in your carry one bag, but your coworkers swear that you can still get in trouble for having them. You’re pretty sure that your Gatorade bottle in your carryon won’t be a problem, but you aren’t 100%. You asked your friends about bringing shampoo in your carry on bag, but everyone had different answers about whether or not you can bring it. Your friends, coworkers, and your best guesses won’t have answers on what you can bring on the plane, but the TSA website will. They have a handy page that outlines everything you can and can’t bring on the plane. Give it a read before you pack, it’ll make the process much easier. If you happen to bring something you know will be a problem, don’t panic and don’t throw it out. If you utilized Bradly airport parking, simply leave the items in your car.
