In-person drop
When this task of in person drop is assigned to us, I was bit nervous about this. I had many fears related to this activity. For me this is really a difficult task to do. How can I go in some strange company and whether they will allow me to go in or not? Security clearance is a big issue now a days, security guards won’t let you go in unless they cross check from the concerned department whether they call us or not. So I had fears that they won’t let me go in.

I searched about the companies that where I should and can go. I heard about the HR department of SKMCH (Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital) a lot. So I decided to go and visit there for in-person drop. I checked its website and googled about its HR department but unfortunately did not find out a single word about HR department from its website and from any other link. I was so disappointed that its website is not updated at all about the careers and jobs related to support staff i.e. HR, Finance, Marketing etc. in spite of this problem I thought that I should go and visit may be I got a chance to meet with any HR person out there. Fortunately I easily crossed the security and easily met with the recruitment specialist there.
I also meet with an HR generalist Ms.Mehwish Jamshaid of ZIN technologies.

My experience was amazing. They both took interest in my training sessions. They asked many questions about Amal academy and on online courses. I feel confident after meeting with HR persons. I introduced myself with an elevator pitch. They both really liked it. They encouraged me a lot. This helps me in building my confidence. Before this training I was a shy person I gone blank in interviews but this time I was really very confident. The practice of elevator pitch also helps me while meeting with HR persons. I have successfully come out of my comfort zone which I never think I can do that.

For next time I’ll make better cover letters because this time I had a shortage of time and got less information about organizations. Research about the company is really very important factor and one of the essential component while interviews. Recruiters told me that in interviews we mostly check whether the person is fit for the company. He/ she has adaptability in their personalities. They give importance to self-learners and whether they are team players or not.

So my suggestion’s for interviews after this experience is that do extensive research on company. Show your love and passion for the company. Practice the body language in front of mirror is important. Don’t be shy be confident whatever the circumstances are. Keep your heads high. Come out of the comfort zone if someone really wants to achieve success in their lives.
