Consuming the right foods with the required amount of nutrients helps regulate bodily functions and prevent diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and others.
Nutrients, as we have previously mentioned, include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, and fats. We also have basic food groups that have been classified according to different bodies, like the USDA, to make it easy for the consumer to know what foods to consume and in what amount.
These groups include:
- Grains and cereals.
- Pulses and legumes
- Fruits and Vegetables
- Fats and oils
- Water
Other bodies have classified the food groups differently, but they mostly include these 5 in varying arrangements.
When we consume these nutrients from the appropriate foods, we help ourselves by strengthening our immune system, protecting our organs from harm, and giving us good health overall, from physical to mental to spiritual ailments.
