Some events or bad experiences in your life knock you down. People change, stuff goes wrong, but you have to be strong and carry on and always remember that life goes on. You need to learn how to cope up with all these ups and downs in life.

Here are some activities that will help you to throw out all your negative thoughts and recall those things that bring smile on your face.

1. Go out. When you are in a bad mood and sitting inside your house and have nothing to do it is natural for you to have some bad feelings. So it is better to get outside, look at the sky, feel the fresh breeze and listen to the natural music of mother earth — chirping of birds, feelings of cool breeze, sound of running water.

2. Indulge in some physical activity. To improve your mood get some physical activity. Go for a run or a walk. Help your mother in the kitchen or put music on and dance like no one is watching. This will sure help get out of your bad mood.

3. Use the power of visualization. Imagine as if you are in a beautiful place with the kind of scenery that makes you happy. Now immerse your yourself fully in this experience — it will sure elevate your mood.

4. Cook for yourself. I think food is the best thing in this world that can improve your mood; because it is an awesome mood stabilizer. The smell of tasty food is enough to make you feel good. So if you are feeling down, rush to the kitchen and make some really yummy food for yourself. If you are not a good cook no problem tell your mom or a friend to cook something special for you and just eat.

5. Take a deep breath. Go to a calm place like a park or a temple. Once you reach there, sit down, close your eyes and take deep breath. If you are in a park, do a breathe in breathe out exercise for 10-15 minutes. While breathing in imagine like you are inhaling all the goodness and purity in the world, while exhaling feel like you are exhaling all the impurities from your body and mind. It will make you calm and you will feel better in no time.

6. Stop a second to see the beauty around. Look for the beautiful things around you like flowers, birds, pets, and kids. If you look at them long enough you will become one with their joy and beauty. Do this and you will feel good.

7. Think of three things you are grateful for. Appreciate all good things that you have in your life. Try to remember an act of kindness, all your loved ones and what they do for you.Thank them. Say it loud. Write all the good things that people have told you over the years — make this your happiness page. Come back to it whenever you feel down.

8. Try something new. Time to time, experiment with new things. If you eat out at home all the time, go out to eat in a restaurant. If you do not exercise — work out or go for a long walk. Paint, draw or sing your favorite song. Sing it out loud. It doesn’t matter if you are a good singer or bad. Pick something that interests you.

Sam Cawthorn said that “The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything but they make the most of everything.”

9. Find something cute or funny. Mood can be affected by your own smile and that smile you can find right under your nose. Smile with all your heart when you see something funny. Keep searching for things until smile finds you. Watch the kids who are playing on the streets. Talk about the funny incidents which you experienced with your friends or family.
