How To Become More “Authenic” On Social Media Without Even Trying…

There’s a disease that’s sweeping across Social Media.

A virus that’s deadening the impact of your content.

It’s needy and cloying and it must be stopped.

I’m talking about the need to demonstrate how “authentic’ or “real” you truly are.

Enough already.

If what you have to say bores me, I can care less that you’re “authentic”.

My suggestion, is to be less authentic and copy from someone that gets response.

There’s no crime in reading the greats.

No shame in riding the coattails of those, that have carved out a place for themselves already.

It’s why I follow guys like James Altucher, Tim Ferriss, Dan Carlin, Joe Rogan and other Influencers.

It’s why I read Masters of Direct Response like Gary Halbert, John Carlton, Gary Bencivenga and Gene Schwartz…

And Great Storytellers like Bukowski, Philip Roth, Hemingway, and Thom Jones…

Yes, I said Thom Jones.

Look him up and learn.

Hell, it’s even why I follow Gary Vee, who I blame for starting this annoying trend.

First off…

Your job is to tell a story…

Usually, it’s your own.

When you do this, you connect with ancient part of the brain, and with your fellow man.

It’s what were hardwired for.

It’s how we went from swinging on trees in the Savannah, to writing cranky screeds like this one on Social Media.

Other species are able to communicate and network…

No one has been able to scale like humanity.

But The Goo-Roos Have Gotten Inside Your Head…

Fed you the BS line that you must document.

So instead of marketing with smarts, we’ve turned our feeds into the Truman Show.

Newsflash…

Your fasted cardio and your curls in the squat rack hold no interest to me unless, you’re showing me how to resolve the problem I’m experiencing at the moment.

If your selling me something be upfront about it.

Don’t take the long road and lead me to a bunch of videos with you enjoying breakfast with the family.

If you have a product that’ll help someone they need to know.

As a matter old fact it’s your duty to inform them you have a solution.

Don’t be ashamed, because the exchange of money between two hands is about as “real”as it gets.

So my suggestion is to stop being “authentic” and…

Do This Instead…

  • Deliver you’re message in the most ruthless, thought provoking language you can muster.
  • Don’t be a Wimp. Come with a point of view.
  • Repel as many people, as you attract with your message.
  • Share something that’s burning a hole inside your gut, and will not be contained.

This is the way to engage an audience, and write content.

You may not win the biggest following going about it this way…

But you’re almost guaranteed to find the the most devoted.

And along the way you’ve become an “authentic” voice in your space without even trying.
