Day 59: the workplace

Today’s lesson was all about experiencing God in the workplace and how He uses Christians in their jobs. Now, I definitely feel like being at home with our boys is a job, but not in the sense that Blackaby was talking about today. Never the less, there were two quotes that I really liked from the chapter.

He talked about how, all throughout the Bible, God used people who were businessmen and already in the workplace. He says,

“Many of the people who meet Christ in a workplace would have never dreamed of visiting a church on Sunday, so Christ sends our servants to job sites where they encounter people who need to hear about Him.”

I love this. I think it’s so true. It makes me think of Landon. I know that the people he works with know he’s a Christian. He’s been inviting them to different functions the Christian Legal Society has put on. He even got to host one of them at his office, which was awesome. I’m excited to see what God does through him while he’s there.

Secondly, I loved this next quote

“God is at work among business people around the world. Many of their hearts are restless as they realize that reaching the top of the corporate ladder or achieving their financial goals does not bring the peace and contentment they have sought. … Other business people have discovered that God has granted them prosperity so they can invest their wealth in the kindgom of God. Suddenly, rather than being absorbed in their work, these men and women have found that a new world of God’s activity in His kingdom has opened to them. … Jesus expects all of His disciples to make his or her first priority to be involved in the building of God’s kingdom and then to see how God provides for all of their other needs.

I love that. It’s resonates with me and where I think we’re at, and also challenges me. It challenges me to really commit to praying for Landon as he’s out in the workplace daily, with tons of people who do not know Christ. It also challenges me to get out of my Christian, church people filled bubble and meet people who do not know Christ.

And, on a totally different note, I can’t believe we’re through with the study tomorrow.
