Groupthink — 12 Angry Men

During these past two classes, we watched the movie “12 Angry Men”. I’m usually not a fan of older movies but this one had some interesting scenes that kept you interested and made you think that you were in the same room as these men, solving the case too.

The concepts of decision making and groupthink were definitely present throughout the film. It first started with the one man, the minority, expressing his thoughts and opinions about the majority’s final decision. Because he communicated and explained his point of view, he even influenced the men to see his point of view and change their answer. Also, the men used different methods of coming to a conclusion. They discussed amongst each other, they even tried acting out some of the alibis. All of these methods use thought process, collaboration, and input from all members of the group.
