My wife and I go to see a lot of movies. I decided to try and encapsulate our thoughts on these movies here on Medium. You might notice that my wife, Mona, doesn’t like to write very much.

Got a chance to check out The Big Sick last night, one of this summer’s movies that everyone’s been raving about. Some thoughts below.

Ajay: You might know Kumail Nanjiani from Silicon Valley. In this movie he ends up telling a story from his real life, playing himself. It’s a really well-done account of what it’s like navigating the world of American romance, and ultimately times where things are almost inhumanely awkward and crushingly tense.

It’s a great love story, and an even better story about being yourself, standing up for who you are, and life as a Pakistani Muslim in today’s America. We both laughed out loud, and a lot. If you’re South Asian, there’s a lot here to enjoy. A must see!

Mona: Cute! 💋💩🏥
