I liked Rogue One for its realistic portrayal of human motivations. As a result, though, it actually made the two sides both very clearly relatable.

Once you realize that neither the rebellion nor the empire is particularly appealing and both are made up of peole trapped in their own situations, the entire storyline becomes more of an inevitable tragedy than a heroe’s journey.
