…RESPONSIBILITY TRAIN

I know it’s that time of the year where people are extremely stressed because they are thinking a lot about stuff one of which is…

That is if you are married with kids that are of school age. And if you are still single, you may be stressed thinking about other things but not necessarily school fees.

I’m literally stressed a lot of times in the week, from work stress to thinking-about-making-money-stress, to trying to lose weight stress, to everything in between. Life as an adult is extremely hard, tiring and always stressful. This is me in one picture:

Many of us tend to be voracious when we are stressed but the real question is: are you eating the right foods? Are you having the right spices in those meals? Are you using the right herbs? Believe it or not, some of these spices and herbs are stress relievers. Yes I know you don’t want me to say it but I gat to tell you that baby! There are spices and herbs that are stress relievers.

Just so you know, you don’t have to consciously say to yourself “oh I’m eating this Spice so that I can feel less stressed”. No! You just have to eat them and watch them do their magic. Capish?!

Let’s see what kind of spices are important in this phase of life, why they are important and how they work wonders in your life.

  • Turmeric

Have you read my article titled “Yellow mellow… but not with Turmeric"? If you haven’t, I think you should do that already. There, you can see the history of turmeric and other details which will not be included here.

Turmeric has a special ingredient known as Curcumin. This is the ingredient that boosts the brain functionality. In most cases, relieving stress is a function of the brain and mind. Relaxing it and thinking less about things you cannot change. Using turmeric in any way, subconsciously reduces your brain stress and improves your productivity level.

You can have this turmeric tonic tea…

…by adding a teaspoon or tablespoon (depending on how you like it) of turmeric in boiling water, and a punch of any Spice you like. I will totally go for cumin and or cinnamon to be honest.

  • Lemon Balm

This is unarguably one of the most soothing herb ever. The aroma, the taste and the looks are so mild yet so strong. Having a lemon balm in your tea can simply do the job. Try to help yourself create a balance in life by having a lemon tea 2–3 times a week. It induces sleep and I’m sure by now we can tell that having enough rest and sleep is the best way to reduce stress.

  • Basil

If you know me well, you will know that I love the herbal family. I’m talking oregano, rosemary, basil, parsley, cilantro, dill, sage, etc.

Peep the oregano and parsley sprinkles on this potato salad? Yep! I absolutely love that family. They are gentle and smooth yet so strong and pungent. And surprisingly, they almost have the same look when fresh. But that is not the discussion here.

People who use basil testify to the vast response. It relaxes your muscles and increases your energy level all at the same time. The use of basil cannot be over emphasized. Yes, you can also simmer basil leaves to get the best flavor. Take it as your tea, in your salad or sandwich. Amazeballs!!!

These herbs have been known to be medicinal over the years thus, the use as stress relievers. These are only but a few. Some of these herbs have quick response times while some others have to be taken over a period of time before it kicks in just like some aphrodisiacs.

We can equally try to adapt to a few life changes to reduce stress as well.

Take tea often

Think less

Exercise

Eat clean

Have a work life balance

Drink lots of water, etc

Thank me later for this few tips 😉.
