Satiate

desire is only as good as one’s ability to satiate it

garden gnomes guard thirsty flowers;
hurricane visits, flash floods, drown them under murky,
sediment contaminated ocean water
too much blessing

let’s take this symbol of rejoicing
for granted: the sea cries; our homes wipe its tears

fun the fact: we were bamboozled by greedy despots
who kicked our guardian gnome into the street
