Things I learned during my 3 year experience as a Product Designer
Starting out in the field of User Experience and Product Design without a degree or certification can be really confusing.
Here’s what I have learnt till now and tried to make sense of all the mess.
1. User Experience Design is solving problems and enhancing user satisfaction by paying attention and using common sense
2. The UX designer does not exist, because no one can do all those things as well as a team of specialists.
3. You can’t design an experience. Interface design, visual styling, code performance, uptime, and feature set all contribute to the user’s “experience.”
4. For software designers / digital product designers, UI Design and Visual Styling are the fundamental things as the interface is the place where the user will meet your product.
5. Pareto’s Principle : The 80–20 Rule for Project / Product Management. This rule of thumb should serve as a daily reminder to focus 80 percent of your time and energy on the 20 percent of you work that is really important. Don’t just “work smart”, work smart on the right things.
Hope this helps people who are starting out in the field of user experience and product design. Will try to write detailed aticles next time.
