(CNN) Nick Cardoro, a Broadway actor whose recovery was hailed around the world, has died after a fight with Coyote 19, according to his wife, Amanda Clots.

He was 41 years old.
“Now there is another angel of God in heaven,” Klitschko posted on his official Instagram account Sunday night. “My dear husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded by his family in love, singing and praying that he would slowly leave this land.”

Clots has been regularly updating her social media accounts with news of her husband’s ups and downs as she battled viruses and complications, including a severed leg. Cardoro has been battling the disease for 95 days, he said.
Born in Canada, Cardrio grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, and eventually moved on to the Big Apple.

In 2014, he was nominated for a Tony Award and his role in the Drama Desk Award “Blitz Over Broadway”, which won him the Theater World Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award.

Corduro began her role as the husband, Earl, in the Broadway production of “Waitress,” as well as Sony’s role in the musical version of Chase’s Parliamentary, “The Bronx Tale.”

She also had success on the small screen, appearing in episodes of “Blue Bloods,” “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” and “Lily Hammer.”
Fitness trainers Corduro and Clots moved to Los Angeles, where they starred in the 2019 musical Rock of Ages.”

She met a former Broadway dancer, Cultus, while they were performing in “Bulletover Broadway” and they got married in 2017.
According to Clots, Cardrio was initially hospitalized in March at Cedars Sine Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He shared on social media that Cardoro spent some time on the ventilator, suffered multiple complications from the Covid 19 and had his leg amputated in April.
He spent weeks fainting, even when doctors pulled him out of the coma, and the #WakeUp hashtag campaign helped Corduro recover after running on social media.

In May, Clots posted that her husband was awake and, after being extremely weak, he was making progress.
“Even with her eyes closed, she gets out.” “They are looking forward to regaining power. Of course, time and recovery will help and then finally PT will help strengthen it.”

Earlier this month, she said her husband’s blood count was low but he was not bleeding internally.
Yet on another front the news was not great.
“However, we learned that Nick’s lungs were severely damaged by the coyote,” he said. “Looks like he’s been smoking for 50 years. He said he was harmed.”

Clots recently told CBS Morning co-host Gail King that Cardoro was so seriously ill that he might need a double lung transplant.
“That’s most likely the case,” she said. “There’s a 99% chance she’ll need it. I know my husband wants to live it.”

In addition to Clots, Corduro is survived by his 1-year-old son, Elvis.
