So, I’ve been doing software development for over 30 years now. I’ve worked with many talented and bright women in software development over the past 3 decades. I have an extremely bright and inquisitive teenage daughter at home who I am grooming to realize her fullest potential in whatever career she may eventually choose to enter. I intend to fully inoculate her from the misogynistic, knuckle-dragging, backwards ideas that were exhorted by this so-called, former “engineer” at Google in his “manifesto” and I am happy to hear that he is now an ex-employee.
Culturally, as a society I am perplexed at our inability produce more girls who are interested in science and technology by the time they graduate from high school. Interestingly enough, these same girls seem to show as much interest in science and technology in grade school as their male counterparts. However, I am comforted, but not surprised regarding the latest statistics showing that more women graduate from college than men. Perhaps we will eventually evolve towards a matriarchal society, which occurs with many animal species in nature that have a social organization.
