My Speech at the Alumni Award Ceremony of The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic Saki(TOPS)
5th of November, 2019
All Protocols duly and respectively observed
Truth is the Greatest Pursuit of any human mind, to get to the truth we must have Coherence and Correspondence, now these two standards must have logical consistency, Empirical Adequacy and Experiential Relevance, now the questions to ask are about Origin, Meaning, Morality ad Destiny.
I am to talk to you about meaning, what gives life meaning? What gives life a Central Worth, I don’t know if you still remember that Song, (Singing) Wherever you go, where ever you see, do not say yes when you mean to say no, First the Alumni has sowed into your life in appreciation of Diligence, you mist find a way to make keep the banner flying, you should incorporate yourself into the Alumni system, you don’t have to be in Saki for you to be a part or even an Executive member, you can function anywhere with the SWC on ground
Life is simply what we call it, if you call it war it becomes war for you, if you call it peace it becomes peace for you, if you call it development or becomes Development for you, some of us have chosen to call it purpose and it’s fulfilment and I am currently living that reality, one of the wisest persons I have ever met always told us that everyone dies except God (In Arabic), this is someone who always told us that systems could work because we are what makes up the system, this is someone who empowered us to dare the system and see if we won’t be successful.
I know you are though, but always be nice, Wisdom would come to you in the unlikeliest of sources, sometimes through failure, the key is not to let Your schooling get in the way of your Education, Make Sure your Servant towel is greater than you Ego, because Ego is the Anastasia that deadens the pain of stupidity, Pride is the Burden of a Stupid Person, Being a Student Confers on so many privileges and part of it is not being responsible totally for the decisions you make, because you have a covering which shields you from the consequences but immediately you leave the school you get exposed to the real world, I remember while we were students here and students led by some unscrupulous elements went to destroy the security post, if you try it in the outside world many of us might not live to tell the story, ask what happened to some residents of Olorunsogo in Ibadan who went to burn down PHCN office, now what is the real world? The real world is there place where you don’t have the grace to practice, there is no chance for errors and time won’t forgive you, the real world is where you have to compete for attention, resources, time, and all other competeables, I am not here to Ex-ray the problems, instead I want to provide you a solution, if you want to make an impact you have to pick up your cross in the words of the famous Jesus, daily and face each say with all it beings, finally anything worth doing is worth doing well, always been told about how average I can be, always been criticized about being average, let me give you a very personal example to put this whole thing in focus, I got to Saki without knowing anyone on the 2nd of January, 2014 and half way into the First semester of the Second year I was already the President of my Fellowship, the Editor in chief of JCCF, the Secretary General of the Students Union and finally the Chairman of SWC of the Alumni Association, coupled with being a student this was hell but it thought me critical time management and I failed so much at it, today I am the founder of Eagle’s Post which has a Laundromat, a Property Management hub, an Online Store, a New Agency, a PR Service and a Soft Loan Scheme, if your customer gives you clothes and needs the clothes tomorrow you just have to keep to time but while we were students you won’t want to keep to deadlines. Let us become better and the sky would be our starting point, May God richly bless you.
Thank you
