You are on to something. We know from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat et al. how social networks take off. The problem is that most of them start off with no greater purpose at their heart than, at some point, monetizing their users’ engagement. Which invariably means eye balls and ad revenues. Boring! And also not the best we could do with all this fabulous technology, as Loomio and others illustrate. There are better business models out there, we *just* need to get them past the pioneer chasm.
