In person drop

Getting out of comfort zone

There are wonders to see and to feel; you just have to move out of your comfort zone.

I always wanted to have a chance at a good Analytical Laboratory. Therefore I tried to apply at Haleeb foods. I went to their office at Farozpur road. I was really excited but they told me that they do not accept CV’s. They gave me an e-mail address and told me to send CV. I realized that it was not functional and called them. They said they would provide me with an alternative but I did not receive any reply from them.

After the harsh first experience, I was in bad mood but I did not give up. I went to PCSIR (Pakistan Centre of Scientific and Industrial Research). It was a pleasant day. After 10 minutes I was in HR office. I gave them my CV and cover letter. It was really good to talk to them. I met Dr Yasir Hussain, head of Biochemistry laboratory. He is very polite and gentle.

They gave me guide about the procedure. In PCSIR one has to give test by PPSC and then apply for post. But they assured me that they will consider me for 1 year training program.

One biggest mistake I made was I responded immediately to their questions. It is not a good way. I will try hard next time to respond after a few seconds. Compose my answer properly and try to be calmer.

Another challenge is to overcome your hesitation. It is not good to feel reluctant. Be at ease, relaxed and composed. I also speak loudly and very fast. So, I had to be relaxed to talk more clearly. The last thing is do good research, it really helps you. You feel somehow related rather than new and anonymous. At the end of day the day, it depends on your confidence and tactics.

It was a good experience and I am going to do more in person drop. It might help me big time.
