Better your character, one step at a time.
My name is Anum Kazi and I am just your average American born, Pakistani-Texan Muslim girl. I’ve been seeing a lot of challenges going around throughout the years, from the cinnamon challenge to the ice bucket challenge all the way down to the crazy backpack challenge. While some may be for charity and others for fun, why don’t we do a challenge that will help us in the hereafter? I propose we start a Sunnah challenge where we try to add a few simple teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) into our daily lives.
The word Sunnah means to literally follow the teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was not only the founder of Islam but a wonderful man overall. He was an excellent merchant, a skilled soldier, and an amazing general. He not only fought for his people, but inspired others to follow him through his trustworthy nature and outstanding character.
It doesn’t matter if you’re Muslim or not, everyone can take steps to better themselves. The world is in a desperate need of good people. Participating in the #SunnahChallenge will hopefully bring peace and happiness in your life. It is a simple form of meditation without the task of actually sitting down and meditating. The #SunnahChallenge will be nothing but positive for you, there are no negative side effects. There isn’t any harm in doing these things, so why not give it a chance and learn something new about one of the largest religions in the world?
Each week I will post a blog with a couple of ahadith, reported teachings of the Prophet, that will be easy to implement into our daily life. My goal for this challenge is to get people to not only follow the teachings of Islam but to better their lives in the process. You don’t even have to be Muslim to be a part of this challenge. I will mostly post super simple and easy goals for us to incorporate into our life such as smiling more. I just want the world to be a happy place! Islam is a beautiful religion but with the current situation, the world doesn’t see it that way. I want to share the light of Islam and prove to the world that Muslims are good people, and what better way to do that than through the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the #SunnahChallenge!
My only request for you is to use the hashtag #SunnahChallenge on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and tag me in your post! It’s hard to do these things alone, so why don’t we do them together! Don’t forget to show off your progress and share your posts on all your social media accounts! Now common y’all, say Bismillah (in the name of God), and begin!
