Men Need to Start Reading Women Writers
Kait Kerrigan

AMEN! And yes! I went to an “elite high school,” and when I got to college I was shocked to realize that in 4 years of copious reading, we had only read TWO books by women (Mythology by Edith Hamilton — which only sort of counts given the subject matter — and To Kill a Mockingbird). And we read ZERO books by POC. I didn’t even think to question this, and I didn’t notice because, in part, my own pleasure reading was almost entirely novels by women, and because we never discussed issues of gender or equality. Never.

I spent 4 years in college making up for lost time.
