Great points made. I just want to add to the “Freedom to craft meaning into the world”. Education should be personally progressive too. The kids who get lowest grades in math shouldn’t be given the same tests as kids who get the best marks. It leads to a loss of confidence and low self esteem, and can put them in negative thought loops. Instead, that mental effort can be better used by them to pursue paths more in tune with their aptitudes and interests.
The “one size fits all” system that encourages homogeneity is on another plane in India. We even wear uniforms and walk in queues, so that discipline is inculcated in us. I feel the education system still belongs to an age where people grew up and were factory workers, repetitively performing one task again and again.
