Display

With a 6.7 inch full AMOLED display, a QHD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate, the OnePlus 7 Pro promises greater immersion for streaming content on ultra-high resolutions and playing intensive games.

Not only is your PUBG game or watching the new season of Stranger Things about to become infinitely better experiences, but the smartphone also comes equipped with a Night Mode 2.0, which filters out short-wave blue rays that affect your vision. It also helps that the lowest brightness setting has been brought down further to just 0.27 nits, to further protect your eyes if you’re scrolling in complete darkness.

Design

For a smartphone brand that’s always focused heavily on design, the OnePlus 7 Pro raises the bar with its curved edges encased in Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone will be available in three colours: Nebula blue (inspired by the mystery of space), mirror grey (suited for the serious-minded) and almond (apparently, the new rose gold).

Processors & Operating System

The OnePlus 7 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 platform, which is 45% faster and consumes 20% less power than the Snapdragon 845. The Adreno 640 graphic card also offers a 20% improvement over the last one and is 30% more power efficient.

As usual, the new smartphone runs on the in-house OxygenOS, a customized version of the Android OS, which has been a hit since the get-go.

Audio

The smartphone is equipped with a dual-speaker system, worked upon by Dolby, placed on both ends of the device. It’s another feature that’ll make the gaming experience more interesting; along with an improved haptic vibration, a 10-layer liquid cooling system to keep the phone cool (even if you’re losing it) and RAM Boost, which will keep the phone from slowing down in overall performance.

More features

There’s a new Screen Recorder feature on the OxygenOS, which will allow you to capture the video and audio playing on your phone, as well as external sound through the microphone. Imagine being able to preserve, for posterity, a particularly epic game; or document the minutes of that hectic meeting without any extra effort.

The phone also comes with a Zen Mode, “developed to encourage users to focus on life”. If you switch this on, you won’t be able to use the phone for 20 minutes — except, to make and receive emergency calls and take photos. I.e. the original reasons they made smartphones in the first place.
