Brain Memory might not improve just by playing brain games. Because they might not be much brain stimulating as it needs to be, for improvement and growth. Below are some concrete brain exercises that will help in cognitive as well as overall growth.

1) Observing Details:

Just begin with a very simple exercise of observing details of any person or a thing. For example, observing the details of the color of clothes worn by someone, their watch, ring, hair color, etc and recall the details later. You can start by observing only one person and then can add up to the list of persons or the details. Some scientists call this “passive memory training” because you train the brain to do, what it is made for: to remember. By doing this simple exercise, we can dramatically improve the recalling power of our brain.

2) Exercising basic mathematics in head:

Pick a three-digit number and perform basic math functions such as add 13, minus 72, etc but the key point is not using pen and paper and doing all in the mind. It will not only help in increasing cognitive abilities but will also help in increasing the concentration. This exercise strengthens the working memory because of the details you are required to hold in mind to complete the exercise.

[Tip: Don’t make the exercise so easy that you get bored, instead try making them challenging to help you grow]

3) Silent Reciting:

Instead of just nodding your head, try reciting what the other person has said. For example, If someone asks you to complete a job by Saturday, try to recite it in your mind. It will automatically boost your cognitive function and will help you in retaining that piece of information.

4) Visualizing Exercise:

Think of any monument or a painting that you like and try visualizing every minute detail about it and draw a picture inside your head and then compare that picture with the actual picture. It will cause the brain to function by recollecting every detail and will help in being a good observer.

5) Mind mapping:

It refers to the process of representing the ideas and concepts in a graphical manner. Why mind mapping is great? One reason is that you’re effectively reproducing the role of nerve cells on the paper. Just as a brain cell has a central nucleus with synapses that flow outward like a river, the mind map has a central idea that feeds several streams with mental power. By creating these mindmaps, you’re making it easier on your brain — thereby increasing its processing speed.

6) Physical Exercise:

Physical exercise is one of the most common ways to ease stress, boost memory and manage the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It’s also been proven to delay the onset of deficiencies associated with an increase in brain age. Combining physical and mental exercise ensures to boost your overall health and cognitive abilities.

Apart from this, If you’re exercising your brain on an abstract level but not directing the fitness at specific life improvement goals, you’re missing out. Your brain fitness must be targeted at specific goals to get tangible results and avoid cognitive decline. Happy reading :)
