Theme: Fixed on Everyday life

The theme/title I chose was “Fixed on everyday life.” In all three of these pictures this theme is present in the way that the cars, people, traffic, ect. are mostly all commuting to their everyday routine whether it be a job, school, or anything. The pictures were taken on a regular week day so everyone is doing what they normally tend to do day after day, week after week, year after year. However, us students who went on the field trip were not doing what we usually do each and every day in a class room setting. We were able break free of that routine and observe everyday life. This gave us a unique view on things that may otherwise have been unattainable.
The first pictures shows cars in traffic slowly making their way off to the horizon. They represent the continual seemingly ceaseless way that the society we live in is driven off of. Everyone is striving for something, looking forward into the horizon, aiming for goals, but do we ever really reach what it truly is that we’re looking for. The fence represents the fact that I am trapped into society, unable to change its ways. The vertical lines are where everyone is going and the one horizontal line (the horizon) is what everyones hopelessly trying to reach.
The second picture is of a gas station. Getting gas is essentially the fuel for us to continue our everyday routine in society. Fellow students observe the gas station and think what will happen when we inevitably run out gas or we suddenly couldn’t rely on our cars anymore? Our everyday life would change immensely.
The third picture shows students walking about free of the everyday classroom. Only this freedom has allowed them to think outside the box. Everyone and everything besides the students in the picture is normal. The vertical lines in the picture show that the students are going somewhere and have some sort of mission. However, this mission is unlike that of the cars passing them by. The students have broken free just for a moment to observe the world around them.
