Housing, Google, and Apple

As of publishing, Google and Apple have pledged about USD $3.5 billion to develop affordable housing for thousands of homeless people.

Facebook also recently raised $500 million to fight homelessness, and the list grows. It seems strange, doesn’t it? Private, for-profit companies footing the bill for issues that are usually the realm of municipal, state, and federal governments.
