Her name was Ja’el, or Jamelle, or something exotic like that. The house party was obnoxiously loud and he couldn’t quite hear what she said. So, he asked again, and he felt like she said Ja’el, but they were both drunk and he didn’t have the heart to ask a third time. She may have said Jamelle, though.

Ethnically, he had no idea what she was, but she kind of looked like an Egyptian goddess. He barely knew anything else about her. Just that she was a friend of a friend, loved this Lana Del Rey song that was playing, and she:

“Wanted to show him something downstairs.”

Ja’el, as it turned out was her name, had recently come out of a terrible breakup and happened to be ovulating like a full moon at high tide. Although they had just met and she knew nothing about him, he was good-looking enough for her rapacious purposes. She was ready to pounce.
