If you need power in python, you have to optimize through cython, or c extensions.

To me, the proposal to embed extensions written in another language is a bandaid that underscores the inadequacy of the language and which also doubles the surface area upon which technical debt will grow.

To be sure, it’s a reasonable solution for institutions that have a heavy investment in Python-based infrastructure. For others, imho, it’s a code smell that indicates it might be time to adopt Go.
