(Bowie, MD) — Silver Birch Press published POINT BLANK, a collection of poems by Alan King, a widely-published poet residing in the D.C. metropolitan area.
The narrative poems explore the various black male archetypes resulting from racism, classism, and related economic disparities while showing their humanity in a way that invites the reader to reconsider what s/he thought s/he knew.
“It’s my hope that POINT BLANK speaks to injustices committed by or against people left in the margins,” King said.
He thanks his mentors poet-musician-performer-teacher Joy Harjo and Virginia Poet Laureate Tim Seibles, National Book Award Finalist (2012). They mentored King as he worked on this often autobiographical collection while a student in the Stonecoast MFA Program at theUniversity of Southern Maine.
The collection zeroes in on the beauties and absurdities of human interaction.
The author is available for interviews and readings.
