The broader implication here is that the adage that corporations are evil and therefore need to be tightly controlled by centralized authorities lest they screw all their customers, destroy the earth, and send all the profits to the money grubbing CEO… is complete bullshit in the modern era.

As it turns out “the herd” — formerly known as the “free market” — is a lot smarter than most folks give them credit for. The Internet results in making the free market even more free.

The “majority” — when you have a free flow of information — actually make the right decisions a majority of the time. It’s the evil greedy people who want to take this control away from the majority and have it all to themselves.
