Scanta’s CEO, Chaitanya (Chad) Hiremath, was invited by the Saudi Authorities to participate at the MISK Global Forum 2018. Here he discussed about augmented reality and machine learning in the modern age with one goal in mind: to inspire the thousands of young minds to cultivate and mold their future. Saudi Arabia has discovered oil in 1938 and since have become the leading producer and exporter. According to a Citigroup report, Saudi may run out of oil to export by the year 2030 and lead their current economy to a halt. In an effort to prevent this outcome, Saudi has taken an ambitious plan to shift their focus from their traditional oil-based economy to a knowledge-based one. Diversifying the largest Arab economy away from oil is key to the government’s Vision 2030 program and their future.
With the populations majority being under the age of 34, there is no surprise that the nation is determined to push their youth to innovate. Nawaf Al-Sahaf, chief executive of Badir, a startup promoting entrepreneurship as a means to new economic growth says, “It’s a big challenge, but if we focus on creating a culture based on entrepreneurs, maybe we will succeed. In preparation for a future without oil, this transition from a single-commodity dependency moving towards a new technology-based economy excites Scanta in the possibilities the future holds.
Scanta is currently amongst one of the leading augmented reality companies and is working on implementing machine learning technology to create immersive AR experiences. Hiremath has emphasized how augmented reality will greatly benefit the government as they takes their first steps into the technology industry. This technology is applicable in many modern fields and will help Saudi Arabia move forward into the future. It will be interesting to see what direction this new endeavor with Saudi Arabia will take us. We look forward to seeing how the Middle East backs up their claims. Until then, Scanta will be on standby prepared to innovate whenever they are.
