Fine piece Paul-an honest and forthright analysis of Labour’s woes, the why’s and wherefore’s (Scotland!!) and how a ‘coallition’ with the Nat’s and Greens, and p’raps those pesky LD’s?, has to be the only game in town. I reckon you’re spot on, but the enormity of the task is evident from the dissent on here, the Graun and points East.
…and if it helps I’m not one of the urban salariat (‘old fart’ would be a better grouping) but I was a life long Labour supporter who finally deserted for the Greens (when Miliballs-fatally-couldn’t/didn’t challenge the ‘Labour’s mess’ propaganda/lies) and then re-joined when Corbyn and McDonnell appeared from Harman’s ruin. I was full of optimism when Corbyn embraced Richard Murphy, and dismayed when he dumped him…or Murphy walked away in disgust…and finally resigned (again) over Corbyn’s handling of Europe and Brexit. The ill-considered unconditional support of the Tories and the three-line whip were the final straw.
So…’if it helps’…were the Party to start listening to you, your analysis, and your suggestions and act accordingly then I’d be coming back to the fold…again! That’s one vote you can offer them. Onwards!
